Shelf Price Audit
Introduction
This Shelf Price Audit User’s Guide is for use with the IBM 4690 and Symbol Technologies Spectrum 24 radio frequency (RF) terminals. This guide provides the necessary information for installing the “SPA Server” on the IBM 4690; installing the “SPA Client” on the Symbol Technologies RF terminal as well as step-by-step instructions for navigating the RF terminal user interface and report generation from the IBM Supermarket application.
Functional Overview
The Shelf Price Audit application enables auditors to access the price look up and price change functions inherent in the IBM 4690 Supermarket application from a remote Symbol RF terminal on the store floor. Thus, the auditor can manage all item price verification and label printing functions from the selling floor or aisle.
System Overview
The Shelf Price Audit application is one of a suite of applications that facilitate automation of several in-store price maintenance functions with the use of hand held radio frequency terminals. The Shelf Price Audit application provides the following key high-level functions:
- Ability for auditor to verify item pricing with the IBM POS system.
- Ability for auditor to change item level pricing on the IBM POS system.
- Ability for the auditor to generate price labels on the selling floor.
- Ability to add new items to the IBM POS system.
2 Hardware / Software Environment
Software
Server Software
In addition to running the IBM Supermarket application, the IBM 4690 server also runs SPA Server as background tasks.
SPA Server is a packet handler which operates as a translator between the RF terminal and the IBM Supermarket application.
RF Terminal Software
The Symbol RF terminal is loaded with Creative Concepts SPA Client and Symbol RF drivers.
